Update from the Provost - your invitation to be part of shaping a stronger ANU

24 Jun 2025

I鈥檓 pleased to share that the first meeting of the Nixon Implementation Steering Group took place on Thursday 12 June. We discussed expectations, governance and support for the Working Groups. I left the meeting feeling very positive about what we can achieve together for our university to be a fairer and safer place to teach, work and learn.

Expressions of Interest for the Nixon Implementation Working Groups now open

I am now inviting all staff and students to consider submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) to join one of seven thematic Working Groups that will advise the Implementation Steering Group.

Each Working Group will focus on a range of areas to address the issues specifically raised in Professor Nixon鈥檚 Review. They include Accountability, Governance and Data, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experience, Leadership and Management Skills, Workplace Culture, Wellbeing and Mental Health, Complaints Handling, and Bias and Discrimination.

Using our community鈥檚 subject matter expertise and local experiences, the Working Groups will come together for a 12-week sprint to identify and recommend solutions that will improve our systems, workplace practices and behaviours, and embed lasting cultural change.

EOIs are open now and close at 5pm AEST on Tuesday 8 July 2025.

It is anticipated that the time commitment for Working Group members will be between 60-90 minutes per week for the 12-week period.

More information about how to express interest in joining a Working Group is available here.

If the time commitment to be on a Working Group isn't feasible for you, there are other ways of contributing. We have a new email address for staff and students to share their ideas and recommendations to be considered as part of the implementation process.

Please send them to NixonSolutions@anu.edu.au.
