Some students are sponsored for their tuition fees by a third party such as a university, government agency, employer, or charitable or non-charitable organisation, whereby the sponsored students' fees are billed or charged directly to their sponsor for payment.
Parents, family members or any other individuals cannot be registered as an official sponsor or set up as a sponsorship arrangement. These types of arrangements are considered to be a private arrangement and it is therefore the responsibility of the student to ensure that their fees are paid on time by the respective due date.
There are two types of sponsorship arrangements which can be registered:
- External sponsorships: for students who are sponsored externally by an entity or organisation outside of the University.
- Internal sponsorships: for students who are sponsored internally by a College, School or Area within the University.
If your tuition fees are to be sponsored, you are required to notify the University of the formal sponsorship arrangement, by completing the respective notification of sponsorship form and submitting the form to sponsorships@anu.edu.au. The University will then register the sponsor and set up the sponsorship arrangement for the student's account in the Student Administration System.
Registration of External Sponsorships
If your tuition fees are to be sponsored externally by another entity or organisation, you are required to complete and submit the . Once your sponsor has been registered with the University and the sponsorship has been set up in your student account, an invoice for your tuition fees will be sent directly to your sponsor via email.
Your sponsor must agree to the terms and conditions on the form and an official delegate of that organisation will need to sign it. Your sponsor must also provide proof to certify authenticity.
The form also includes the Consent Authorisation for the University to release the student's personal information to the sponsor, which will need to be signed by the sponsored student and their nominated witness.
Registration of Internal Sponsorships
If your tuition fees are to be sponsored internally by another area within the University, you are required to complete and submit the . Once the sponsorship has been approved by the relevant delegates and set up in your student account, the sponsored fees will be charged directly to the area's nominated account.
The tuition fee types that can be sponsored include International Student Fees (ISF), Domestic Tuition Fees (DTF), HECS-HELP (or HECS), Student Services and Amenities Fee (SAF) and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for single, dual family or multifamily policies.
The students can be sponsored for the entire duration of their program enrolment, or for only a specified academic term or session or period of time, depending on the arrangement as approved by the student's sponsor.
